Cielo, Brazil’s biggest payment processing supplier, has revealed assistance on its point-of-sale (PoS) systems for Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrency purchases.
Crypto payments through QR codes
The news was published by Cointelegraph Brazil on 30 August. Users can create crypto payments via Cielo PoS machines via QR codes, according to the study. Payment codes are generated by the PoS systems, and the client can then use a smartphone to scan a code and create a payment. In order to finish the deposit, the client would also have to maintain either an account with Uzzo or Criptohub — Cielo’s network partners.
Paulo Caffarelli, CEO of Cielo, noted that his partner banks, including Bradesco, are supporting the fresh crypto payment offer. Furthermore, according to the study, Cielo may start promoting crypto transfers that do not require a PoS machine in October. This payment method would instead use a Cielo mobile app to produce the QR code instead of a PoS phone. Cielo runs 1,4 million PoS equipment, spread across 5,500 municipalities across the nation, according to business information.
Other PoS equipment that support cryptographic payments Brazilian commercial bank Banco Inter announced, as earlier stated by Cointelegraph Brasil, that it would introduce a crypto-payment scheme not relying on PoS devices. This service would be accessible through a mobile app and it is reported that customers would not need to have a Banco Inter account. Crypto startup Pundi X also reached an agreement to sell its crypto PoS phone, the XPOS, throughout Venezuela at Traki department store stores.
